
Broccoli with Lemon Butter
Fresh, vibrant broccoli paired with a rich and tangy lemon butter sauce makes this dish the perfect accompaniment to any meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound (450g) broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Zest of 1 lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the broccoli florets and blanch for 3–4 minutes until tender but still bright green.
- Drain the broccoli and immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter with olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the lemon juice and zest, cooking for another 30 seconds.
- Add the broccoli to the skillet and toss to coat in the lemon butter sauce.
- Season with salt and pepper, then remove from heat. Serve warm.
Tips
For added flavor, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese or toasted almonds over the broccoli before serving. Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the best taste.
